A lipstick is a lipstick is a lipstick - and thus a bit of cosmetics hardened by the crisis.

For a long time things looked different in the past two years: Mouth and nose protection and lipstick made little sense together.

The mask had to stay, so the lipstick had to go.

Sales plummeted, and the drop in make-up in 2020 was even 27 percent, according to the VKE association, which is responsible for cosmetics.

The lipstick, so the assumption, was able to hold its own during the global economic crisis of 1929, lift the depressed mood a little after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and adapt to the tighter budgets during the 2009 financial crisis.

Sales always went up.

Not during Corona.

The lipstick flopped.

That changes in the third year of the pandemic: the lipstick is still there, it shines in conferences with teams, zoom and Skype, and people meet more and more often, even in times of opening steps.

On the one hand, this may be a sign of digital progress, on the other hand, it may continue to offer protection against infections - and it is therefore a side effect of the crisis.

And crisis can the lipstick.

If every digital conference annoyingly holds the mirror up to us, then perhaps the sight of it will be more bearable with a little red on your lips.

The VKE also reports that the figures, especially for red lipsticks, are pointing upwards again.

This spring's lipsticks could bring back a few more bold colors.

Another eye-catcher in front of a blurred digital background would be Hermès-Orange, i.e. the Rouge Hermès in the nuance Orange Capucine (2nd from right).
