This permanent suspension of our broadcasts continues to cause reactions in West Africa.

This Friday morning, we will thus retain the reaction of the

Mourya newspaper, La Voix du Niger

.

Which considers that it is a "

misrepresentation

 " of the "

soldiers in power in Bamako

", that this newspaper treats as "

putschists who do not support the contradiction and are thoroughly in the muzzling of the press

 ".

Mourya, La Voix du Niger

denounces a “

lead screed worthy of the Stalinist years

 ”;

hopes that "

the Malian putschists

" will return to "

better feelings as soon as possible to give full scope to freedom of expression.

In any case, the future has always proved wrong the leaders who tried to muzzle their people

 ,” warns

Mourya, La Voix du Niger.

Gossi holds his breath

In Mali, precisely, the French army, last week, revealed the staging of a mass grave in Gossi, in the north of the country, near the military camp that the French forces of Operation Barkhane had just returned to the Malian army.

On the spot, the inhabitants fear a security vacuum and new violence.

In Gossi, a local elected official met by the French newspaper

Le Figaro

, confides that “

people are afraid.

They fear the economic consequences of the departure of the French, because many inhabitants of the region depend on Barkhane for their employment, their trade, or for income linked to small jobs

”.

But what the inhabitants of Gossi fear "

 above

all " is a possible "

security vacuum

 ", states

Le Figaro

, "

we can expect reprisals from jihadist groups for all those who have worked or been in contact with the Barkhane force

", predicts the local elected representative, also evoking "

a resurgence of violence, but also more enrollment in the ranks of armed terrorist groups

 ".

Referring to several local sources,

Le Figaro

also assures that around twenty mercenaries from the Russian group Wagner "

would have arrived in Gossi the day after Barkhane's departure

 ".

Spiral of violence in Darfur

Report by this daily also in Darfur, in the town of Kereinik and the surrounding villages, predominantly Masalit, a non-Arab ethnic group, against which, last Sunday, "

Arab tribes from the west of this Sudanese region

 " carried out reprisals .

Provisional balance sheet: 201 dead.

It is "

one of the most deadly attacks of the past two years

 ", underlines this newspaper.

A conflict which was "

quickly exported to Geneina

", the capital of Western Darfur.

As Le Figaro

deplores

, “

despite the signing of the Juba peace accords in 2020 between the Sudanese government and the main rebel groups, which were to end seventeen years of conflict, attacks against civilians are increasing

( …)

and also threaten food security

 ”.

The ordeal of Ivorian women

It is one of the most sensitive subjects in Africa in general, as in West Africa in particular, that of violence against women.

Thus, in Côte d'Ivoire, according to an official survey, women are increasingly exposed to violence.

Women, but not only... According to the 2011-2012 demographic and health survey and the 2021 statistical analysis report on gender-based violence from the Ministry in charge of Women, Family and Children , “

36% of Ivorian girls are married or in union before the age of 18

 ” and “

38% of women between 15 and 49 years old have undergone excision

”, reports the newspaper

LG Info.

This survey also indicates that in terms of female genital mutilation, Côte d'Ivoire "

has one of the highest rates in West Africa

 ", he adds.

As

LG Info

points out , the analysis of data by age group reveals, among other things, that out of 693 cases of rape recorded in this survey, nearly nine out of ten are committed “

on children

 ”.

This daily also reports that, in eight out of ten cases, gender-based violence "

has as perpetrators people known or who have a link with the victim

 ".
