As Russia's military invasion of Ukraine continued, a symposium was held in Tokyo where college students discussed international peace.
Students and presidents of each university participated in the symposium held by Sophia University and Keio University on the 29th, with the theme of what is needed to maintain international peace.
Among them, a female student in the fourth year of Sophia University said, "War cannot be stopped once it begins, so we should place more emphasis on how to prevent conflict before the war begins." I complained.
A male student at Keio University's graduate school pointed out that "I feel that there are few opportunities for students to discuss Ukrainian issues. Not only universities but also elementary and junior high schools and high schools need education to think about international issues and peace." ..
At the symposium, other students also said, "I started to learn about the Vietnam War and the Palestinian issue at university, and I realized that the education I had done so far was missing something related to war." We need a place for exercises like the Model United Nations to discuss world issues and policies. "
