Through the "Pharaoh of the Two Lands" exhibition, the Louvre invites you to discover a little-known history of Egypt.

To celebrate two hundred years of major discoveries in Egyptology, the Parisian museum looks back on the dynasty of the kings of Napata, sovereigns from what is now Sudan, who conquered ancient Egypt.

REPORT

The "Pharaoh of the Two Lands" exhibition has just opened at the Louvre Museum.

An exhibition event that refers to a tormented period in the history of Egypt.

In this exhibition, the Louvre projects us seven centuries before Jesus Christ in a very cozy and confidential atmosphere.

Egypt, at this time, is weakened, in full reconquest of the South.

She then counts on the protection of the god Amon.

Sovereigns under the protection of the god Amon

"He is a god with a human figure with a particular crown", explains Vincent Rondeau, the curator of the exhibition.

"It's a mortar, a bit like a jar with other feathers and a solar disk. In Sudan, it's always a man with a ram's head", he continues at the microphone of Europe 1.

This god is thus sometimes represented in the form of a ram.

Two massive statues of the animal punctuate the route of the exhibition.

"What bond is stronger than that of the sacred animal of the god, the ram, lying on its side and protecting the king under its muzzle?" Wonders Vincent Rondeau.

It is fascinating to note the very good state of conservation of the works.

The damaged pieces were reconstructed in 3D thanks to a new technique used by the Louvre.

The statues appear to us as in the time of the god Amon.

The exhibition is visible until July 25.
