A country club in Massachusetts, United States, owes nearly $5 million to a family whose property has been hit by golf balls in recent years.

In court, the couple Athina and Erik Tenczar stated that they lived in constant fear.

Since purchasing a home near Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston in 2017, her property is said to have been hit by more than 700 golf balls.

Some left dents in the facade, smashed through windows or hit the three daughters' playground equipment.

"We're nervous.

The whole thing is very difficult for us," said the 43-year-old Tenczar of the Boston Globe newspaper.

His children, aged two to five, wear bicycle helmets when playing in the garden to protect themselves from golf ball injuries.

A jury awarded Tenczar and his family $3.5 million in damages for psychological distress.

In addition, the country club owes them more than $1.4 million in interest.

The private club has now moved the tee for the 15th hole, which was in a curve behind the house - and announced an appeal.
