A tourist finds a leather sandal in Norway, 1700 years old!

In 2019, a tourist found 1,700-year-old leather sandals in the ice of Norway.

And the Artnet website indicates that scientists determined the age of this ancient sandal, which has fashion elements, using radioactive carbon, and it became clear to them that it was made in 300 AD.

According to the expert Wiegard Wijk, the sandal is a copy of the Roman shoes (Karbatina), which were widespread in Europe at that period.

The expert believes that his owner threw it because it became worn out.

Archaeologist Espen Fenstad says, "Finding sandals with fashion elements, such as those previously discovered on the continent, at an altitude of 6,500 feet is amazing."

It should be noted that this is the first time that scientists have found sandals in the ice, because they had previously found winter boots and shoes.

Fenstad adds, according to "Russia Today", that the matter is more complicated, because the sandal and other things that were found nearby, indicate that "what today looks like a wild and desolate mountain landscape, was a place to move. Our ancestors were not afraid to go to the mountainous areas. They traveled long distances and practiced trade."

Fenstad explains, a tourist found this ancient sandal, and immediately contacted the concerned agency (Secrets of the Ice), which studies the ice and glacial regions in Norway.
