Lisaqua, a start-up specializing in the farming of prawns with low environmental impact, is going to install a basin right next to the monthly waste collection center in Monthyon (Seine-et-Marne).

It was selected on April 19 by Véolia and the Smitom du Nord Seine-et-Marne to lead an energy recovery project, reports La Marne.

500 tons of prawns produced per year

In April 2021, a call for agricultural or industrial projects with ecological values was launched.

Founded in 2018, Lisaqua already has a breeding base in Saint-Herblain (Loire-Atlantique), where it plans to produce ten tonnes of prawns without pollutants or antibiotics.

In Monthyon, the start-up wants to set up a new process in France, which will consist of using the heat generated by the incinerator to heat the water in the pools.

If the project is successful, it will create around fifty jobs and produce more than 500 tonnes of giant prawns per year.

Work could begin in 2024.
