On April 26, Zhan Tianyou's grandson Zhan Tongbao donated his grandfather's handwritten family tree to the Zhan Tianyou Science and Technology Development Foundation.
Zhan Tongbao is the son of Zhan Tianyou's eldest son, Zhan Wenyi, and now lives in Macau.
The genealogy of Zhan Tianyou's hand-copied family tree, "The Genealogy of the Zhan Clan of Luyuan in Huiwu", which was donated by Zhan Tianyou this time, was compiled by Zhan Tianyou in Guangzhou in 1884. It has important cultural relics and historical value.
After Zhan Tianyou's death, the family tree has been preserved by the eldest son Zhan Wenzhen, and later passed on to Zhan Tongbao for collection to this day.
Zhan Tongbao said that he donated this family tree, which has survived for more than 130 years, in the hope of letting more people admire the patriotism and moral demeanor of his grandfather, Mr. Zhan Tianyou.
After negotiation between the Zhan Tianyou Science and Technology Development Foundation and the China Railway Museum, it was decided to put this precious cultural relic in the Zhan Tianyou Memorial Hall of the China Railway Museum.
Mr. Zhan Tianyou is the pioneer of modern science and technology in China and the pioneer of China's modern railway industry. He is known as the "father of modern engineering in China" and "the father of China's railways".
