Thanks to yogurt, an American woman survives after being stuck in a forest for 6 days

A statement issued by the US Lassen County Sheriff's Office revealed that a woman who had been stuck for six days in the county woods in northeastern California managed to survive by eating six packs of yogurt and ice before being rescued.

Justin Lunich and Shayna Gullit were traveling to their home in Little Valley on April 14, when they got stuck in the snow in a remote area of Lassen County, the statement said.

The mayor's office said they spent the night in their car, but in the morning the battery ran out and they tried to get back to the main highway, according to CNN.

The statement indicated that Juliet eventually got lost and the two separated due to heavy snowfall.

Lunich tried to get back to Juliet, but could not find her due to heavy snowfall.

After hiking and sheltering for several nights, Lunich was able to reach Susanville in Lassen County on April 17 and report to the authorities that Juliet was stranded.

The search effort was complicated by bad weather and Lunić's unfamiliarity with the area, but on April 20, at about 3 p.m., police found the car the two were in.

Juliet immediately got out of the car upon their arrival and was "very emotional but physically fine".

A policeman took Juliet to a station to be evaluated by medical staff.

The statement explained that Juliet ate six packs of yogurt during the six days she was stranded, and ate ice because she did not have any water.

Joliet told first responders that she saw a California Highway Patrol helicopter that circled the search area a few days earlier, but they couldn't see it because the area was so bushy.
