Good news for expectant mothers.

Pregnant women living more than 45 minutes by motorized transport from a maternity hospital will be able to benefit from the reimbursement of temporary non-medical accommodation by the Health Insurance.

This measure was formalized by a decree published in

the Official Journal

on April 14, reports

on Tuesday.

A possible extension in case of birth after the term

The women concerned will have the possibility of obtaining coverage for five consecutive nights in the days preceding the estimated date of delivery.

In the case of a baby born after the end of the pregnancy, the text provides "on medical necessity" for the establishment of an extension of the duration of the accommodation "until the actual date of delivery ".

During a pathological pregnancy, they will be able to benefit from these five nights “at any period of pregnancy” provided that this is done via a “medical assessment”.

In addition, future mothers concerned by this aid may also request that the journeys between their home and the place of temporary accommodation or the obstetrics gynecology unit be covered by an approved transport company or an approved taxi.

The same will apply to journeys relating to medical examinations planned as part of pregnancy monitoring during the eighth and ninth months.
