The jury's motivation highlights the National Museum's work in pedagogy and digital initiatives.

“Art and knowledge reach far beyond the museum's walls thanks to the National Museum's work in pedagogy and digital initiatives.

Old and new visitors of all ages are involved in art talks and their own creation at the museum or in nursing homes, in gyms and online.

Based on the rich collections of art and design and the newly renovated building with bold wall colors, a fun-filled appeal is created that permeates the entire business. ”

On behalf of the government, the National Museum underwent an extensive renovation for just over five years, and in 2018 the museum was completed in its current condition.

The jury also pays attention to the museum's development of conservation technology.

The Museum of the Year award is a hiking prize and has been awarded since 1994. Other nominees this year were the Mountain and Sami Museum Ájtte in Jokkmokk and the Halland Art Museum in Halmstad.
