On April 23, local time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a press conference in a subway station in Kyiv. He said that Ukraine is currently unable to use military means to lift Russia's blockade of Mariupol.

But he stressed that if Mariupol's defenders were eliminated, Ukraine would withdraw from negotiations with Russia.

Zelensky also called on leaders of various countries to visit Ukraine in person and bring the weapons needed by the Ukrainian side.

He said that as long as Ukraine gets enough attention, it will soon be able to retake the land occupied by the Russian army.

Zelensky said that US Secretary of State Blinken and Defense Secretary Austin will visit Kyiv on the 24th, and the two sides will discuss the issue of further US assistance to Ukraine.
