At a junior high school in Gifu City, new designs and combinations of uniforms decided by the students themselves were introduced this year in order to foster the independence of the students and respect their diversity.

At Gifu Municipal Atsumi Junior High School, after deciding the uniform design in advance by voting by students, we made it possible to choose whether to wear skirts and trousers, ribbons and ties.

This new uniform was introduced this year, and on the morning of the 25th, students went to school in any combination they wanted.

At this junior high school, students who learned about "gender" raised questions about uniforms that are separated by gender, so we have been studying new uniforms with the students.

The girl student said, "I like cute clothes, so I chose a combination of ribbon and skirt. I think it's good to be able to choose a uniform without being decided by gender."

In addition, Yoshiko Okada, principal of Atsumi Junior High School, said, "I want you to develop the ability to think for yourself rather than being in sync with others, so I hope that choosing a uniform will be one of the triggers." ..
