Novelist Lee Oe-soo has passed away.

He died at the age of 76.



On the 25th, the bereaved family said that writer Lee Oi-su passed away at 5:40 pm on the same day at Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital.



Lee Oe-su was born on September 10, 1946 in Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do.

He enrolled in Chuncheon National University in 1965, but dropped out in 1972 and was elected to the Gangwon Ilbo New Years in Literature.



In 1975, he made his official debut when his novel 'Medal' won the Best New Artist Award in 'Generation' magazine, and he wrote his novels 'Wild Dog', 'Knife' and 'Mountain Tree', as well as essays 'It's Raining in My Sleep', 'The Stutter's Wedding Notebook'. ', 'Hahahaha', 'Youth invincible' etc.



Since the mid-2000s, he has been active in the broadcasting industry such as sitcoms and radio.

He also has more than 1.7 million followers on social media and has voiced his voice on social and political issues.



He recovered after undergoing surgery for stage 2 stomach cancer in 2014, but collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage in March 2020 and has been fighting the disease for three years.

His eldest son, Han-Eol, shared the current situation of Oe-Soo who was battling the disease several times through SNS.



His burial place was set up at the funeral home of Chuncheon Lakeside Hospital.

His death is the 29th.
