A stab in the neck is a “gift” for a girl to her fiancé a few days before the wedding

An Indian young woman did not find an escape from her fiancé, whom she did not love, and had to marry him soon, except to brutally slaughter him.

Indian police arrested a young woman last week after she took her fiancé to a secluded hilltop in the southern Indian state and blindfolded him on the pretext of giving him a "surprise gift", which turned out to be a slitting operation that left him to die.

Fortunately, the man survived when locals found him and took him to hospital, where doctors stitched up the wound with 30 stitches.

The accident occurred, according to Vice As, on April 18, in the Anakkapalli district of Andhra Pradesh.

The two, 22-year-old Fiyabu Pushpa, and 28-year-old Adebalu Ram Naidu, whose throat was cut, were engaged through an arranged marriage agreement between their families.

They were scheduled to marry on May 29.

Police said they have charged Pushpa with attempted murder, who is now in court.

If convicted, she could serve up to 10 years in prison.

Police said Pushpa had confessed to the crime, using violence as a way out of her arranged marriage.

"The girl did not want to marry this man or anyone else," Sunil Kumar, deputy inspector of police in Andhra Pradesh, told VICE World News.

He added that while Pushpa had no pressure on her to marry Naidu, she was afraid to tell anyone of her hesitation, and therefore did not think about the consequences of her "immature" actions.

In an interview with a local TV channel, Naidoo, sitting on his hospital bed, said their parents arranged their marriage last year.

On April 18 Pushpa called Naidu to meet him, and after having lunch at his house, she told him she wanted to introduce him to her friends.

On the way, I stopped and bought something from a store.

When Naidu asked her what she had bought, she said it was a surprise gift and took him to a secluded hilltop.

There, she blindfolded his eyes with her handkerchief on the pretext of giving him a gift, and stabbed him in the throat with this "sudden gift".

Naidoo told the media that after his beheading, he opened his blindfold when she told him she did not want to marry.

A doctor treating Naidu told the media that there were no deep wounds.

Instead, the superficial veins were severed, resulting in massive bleeding.

Now, both Pushpa and Naidu's parents blame the other side for the accident.

"Her parents say she is innocent, while the man's parents are demanding justice," Kumar said.

And of course the wedding was cancelled.
