(Shanghai War Epidemic Record) Frontline | "White Bear Guard" in the village: clothes are wet and dry, dry and wet

China News Service, Shanghai, April 24 (Reporter Miao Lu) "There is a place that needs support, but it has to be stationed 24 hours a day for many consecutive days. Who is willing to go?" "I am willing", "I will come too", "Yes"... On March 30, before the closure of Puxi in Shanghai, Shen Jie, the head of the White Bear Green Home Volunteer Service Team, sent a message to the group that quickly got a response.

The place in need of support this time is Zhupu Village, Baihe Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai. It is just across the river from Kunshan, Jiangsu. There are more than 1,100 elderly people over 60 years old and 23 elderly people over 90 years old.

In order to become the "White Bear Guard" who protects them, the "White Bear" team has served more than 4,000 hours and served more than 80,000 people.

During the lockdown, multiple rounds of nucleic acid screening were required. Because he was familiar with the operation of PDAs (mobile devices used by medical staff to scan QR codes for nucleic acid registration), Zhu Tianao, a senior at Shanghai Lixin College of Accounting and Finance, signed up immediately after being notified.

"Because of the epidemic, my mother was working out of town and couldn't go home, and my father was also in charge of the logistics support of volunteers in Qingpu Industrial Park. I thought it would be better to do something more meaningful than to isolate myself at home." Zhu Tianao said.

Pulling the suitcase and putting on the quilt, Zhu Tianao and other "White Bear Guardian" volunteers began to live in Zhupu Village.

Get up at 5am every morning, arrive at work at 6am, and start six hours of work.

"The zipper should be tightened, the double-sided tape should be tightly sealed, the shoe cover should be tightly fastened, the protective gloves should be fastened to the cuffs, and the wrist skin should not be exposed, so as to ensure that there is no problem in scanning the code before the sampling session." When the volunteers in the village wore protective clothing and protective masks, Zhu Tianao realized that the battle against the new crown virus that he had participated in was about to really begin.

Since there are many elderly people in the village, they all need to come to the door for nucleic acid testing. In hot weather, they also need to carry a five-kilogram disinfection watering can and shuttle through the six villages. Zhu Tianao was a little difficult to adapt to at first. After following the medical staff, I came down all day and my clothes were wet and dry, dry and wet, I don't know how many times." Zhu Tianao said.

Although he was very tired physically and mentally at the end of the day, when he was resting at night, he was very moved by the thought of thanking the grandparents and saying "come on" to the grandparents after the nucleic acid was done during the day.

After receiving the notice that he was going to carry out the antigen self-test for all staff, Zhu Tianao, who has lived in the city since childhood, encountered a new problem. "The area I am in charge of is the Zhujianan team in Zhupu Village. The trails in the countryside are extremely difficult and tortuous. It may take tens of thousands of steps every day to deliver the antigen test kits to the villagers, and the antigen self-test task for more than 300 people was completed from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.." Zhu Tianao was a little frustrated.

But thinking that the volunteers in the village who are as old as his parents are still working so hard, asking himself over and over again how to use the PDA, Zhu Tianao regained his confidence and kept reminding himself to be patient and slow down.

From March 31 to April 24, some people started to prepare for work at 4:00 in the morning to go to the sampling site, some shuttled through the countryside to distribute reagents throughout the afternoon, some wore protective clothing under the scorching sun, and came to do nucleic acid for the elderly with inconvenient legs and feet. In the inspection, there are also tons of materials sent by the government and other caring enterprises under heavy rain...

Zhu Tianao has been responsible for more than ten times of nucleic acid scanning work and channel maintenance for all staff, four times the distribution of antigen self-testing reagents, two times assisting doctors to go to the countryside to conduct nucleic acid tests for the elderly with inconvenient legs and feet, and several times for the loading and unloading of materials.

Zhu Tianao joked that he had passed all the positions in nucleic acid testing and achieved a "grand slam".

Shen Jie, head of the White Bear Green House Volunteer Service Team, said: "The perseverance of the White Bear Guards stems from everyone's love for Shanghai. Although the virus is terrible, the White Bears firmly believe that as long as everyone works together, come forward, and If you walk against the 'epidemic', you will definitely defeat the new crown virus."
