A young man in his twenties died on Sunday afternoon following a violent attack by a group in the middle of the street in Champigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne), said the Créteil prosecutor's office, requested by the AFP and partially confirming information from the daily Le Parisien.

From the first elements collected, about fifteen individuals allegedly attacked him and beat him with bats, knives and sledgehammers, explained the public prosecutor, in the conditional, the investigation for "homicide" entrusted to the Val-de-Marne judicial police have just started.

The young man, aged 21 or 22, died at the scene.

For the time being, no arrests have taken place, the Créteil prosecutor's office told AFP.

Saturday afternoon, in the same city, an 18-year-old boy was seriously injured with a knife in the thigh, aisne and shoulder blade and taken to hospital, the prosecution confirmed.

His days are no longer in danger.

An investigation for "attempted homicide" had been opened in the process.

"The link between the two cases is not certain at this time," commented a source familiar with the matter, cautious.

In this city of more than 76,000 inhabitants located about fifteen kilometers east of Paris, the death of Mattéo, 17, fatally stabbed almost a year ago, in May 2021, had caused a great stir.
