[Explanation] On April 22, the Oncology Medical Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University was established in Guangzhou, and Zhong Nanshan served as an honorary consultant.
At the inauguration ceremony, Zhong Nanshan said that he never forgot that being a doctor and doing medical work should address the difficult problems and diseases encountered by most people, and tumors are one of the main reasons for the death of Chinese people.

We have never forgotten that being a doctor and engaging in medical work are mainly aimed at the difficult problems and diseases encountered by most of our people, and I am also engaged in chest and lung diseases, so this experience is very deep. I came here more than 50 years ago. In Guangzhou, the cancer patients I saw at that time were all very advanced stages. Why did they only come to see them when they had obvious symptoms? Then they wouldn't be able to live for long. Now we have censuses, early detection, and various methods. .
[Explanation] Zhong Nanshan believes that the reason why tumors are frightening is not only because they are difficult to treat, but also because they are discovered too late.
More than 50 years ago, many of the cancer patients he saw were advanced.
For tumor prevention and treatment, early detection and early diagnosis and treatment are the last word, and it is urgent to improve the ability of tumor prevention and treatment.

If it is detected early, it is completely different. Many diseases are like this, it is just a little bit of time, so sometimes we ordinary people feel that there is something in the lungs, or there is something in the liver examination, you don’t care, sometimes you are separated. I didn’t go to the re-examination in 2010, and the result was too late in another year. It’s too late. For the hospital, early detection is a very important key issue to reflect the health-centered alternative treatment as the center.
[Explanation] Zhong Nanshan said that he is confident that the early detection and treatment of tumors will be done well. After the establishment of the Oncology Medical Center, it will be able to better coordinate the medical forces of various disciplines and use comprehensive methods to discover and treat tumor patients.
