The tragic end of a chivalrous American teenager

The death of a gallant teenager who drowned while trying to save another person has sparked the death of two Florida teenagers Tuesday after a car crashed into a canal, CBS reported.

It was reported that Venkata Krishnamurthy, 18, was heading to Taco Bell around 11pm, after dropping out of a basketball game when the accident occurred, apparently missing his way back into a canal.

This coincided with the passing of a 17-year-old named Eden Berry with his mother, when the second teenager decided to try to rescue Krishnamurthy, who is believed to be the only person in the car.

Perry spent a long time underwater trying to rescue, which terrified his mother, who began to call for help, noting that her son "can't swim", and police and fire crews arrived at the scene and were able to pull Perry out of the water.

"It took a while to find and pull the first one," a neighbor told NBC Miami.

Perry was then given cardiopulmonary resuscitation before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Another person who lives in the neighborhood and witnessed the accident commented: "It's unfortunate, who knows what happened when he went there to try to open the door (the car), maybe he got stuck in it."

“It is very sad, a very brave act to do such a thing.

It is sad to lose your life because of that.”
