In the spring of 2021, reports were received that two women had been exposed to sexual crimes during the filming of the reality show.

The acts were classified as suspected rape and sexual harassment.

But now the investigation is closed, the prosecutor's office announces in a press release.

- Now all interrogations with the people involved have been held and my assessment is that I can not prove that a crime has been committed.

The evidence is not strong enough to prove the crime, the preliminary investigation is therefore closed, says chamber prosecutor Charlotte Frisack Brodin, head of the preliminary investigation, in the press release.

The lawyer: Appeals on Monday

The lawyer Elisabeth Massi Fritz, who represents the plaintiff, writes in an email to Kulturnyheterna that she is disappointed with the prosecutor's decision.

"In my opinion, it is possible to prove crime in both cases and a review of the prosecutor's closure decision will be submitted on Monday morning," writes lawyer Elisabeth Massi Fritz.

She also adds that they do not understand how the prosecutor reasoned.

"The entire course of events is documented on film and you can clearly see what the suspect is doing.

There is no other explanation for the suspect's actions against the plaintiffs than that the act would be a sexual harassment.

Even after the incident, the plaintiffs reacted strongly and told two other witnesses who can prove both the plaintiff's state of mind and what the plaintiffs have told the witnesses immediately after the incident ”.

The program was stopped

It was in April 2021 that a male participant was accused of sexual abuse, which is said to have occurred the autumn before, when the program was recorded at a hotel in Mexico.

After the incident, TV3 and Nent (Nordic entertainment group) paused the broadcasts of Paradise hotel and then interrupted the season.

The male participant was sent home from the recording due to the incident.

Criticism was then directed at the program for how the situation was handled on the spot, and for not reporting the incident to the police immediately.

Several participants testified about abuse

Several former participants in the reality show have since testified that sexual harassment occurred during previous seasons of the program.

Of 20 previous participants, 11 stated that they had seen or experienced some form of sexual harassment to P3 Nyheter in May 2021.

Mastiff's CEO Matilda Snöwall responded to the criticism and said that no harassment may occur in the program and that there are clear guidelines for how the participants may behave towards each other.

She also said then that the company works internally with this type of issue.
