It's not just parties, pollsters, and hopefully French voters who have their eyes riveted on the outcome of the presidential election in France.

The whole of Europe is wondering about the political future of Europe's second largest economy, leading military power and founding member of the EU.

And

in Germany, historical partner of France, we follow very closely the position of the extreme right which has never seemed so close to power… this is the report by Deborah Berlioz.

Suffice to say that the two candidates who will oppose the second round have diametrically opposed ideas on Europe

On the one hand, the European Emmanuel Macron wants to develop a powerful and autonomous Europe both from an energy economic and geopolitical point of view.

On the other hand, Marine Le Pen no longer calls for a Frexit or an exit from the Euro, but for numerous obstacles to European integration.

In Brussels, Jean-Jacques

Hery

asked MEP Philippe Lamberts, co-president of the Greens group, how he saw this duel.

And since we are talking about Europe and the balance of power within the EU.

The Hungarian government of Victor Orban has every interest in seeing the candidate of the National Rally win the election

this Sunday (April 24, 2022).

He would be less isolated in Brussels, he who advocates an illiberal democracy, where checks and balances and the rights of migrants are reduced to a minimum.

Hungary is both a model and a financial support for Marine Le Pen.

In Budapest, Florence Labruyère.

In Italy, fear of the far right

The Orban/Le Pen alliance, in the European institutions, to defend sovereignty... This is a scenario that frightens Italians, while Matteo Salvini has calmed down when he returns to government but Fratelli d'Italia by Gorgia Meloni brandishes the anti-European banner.

Listen to what Paolo Levi says, he was the guest on Sunday (April 17, 2022) of Carrefour de l'Europe, he is interviewed by

Juliette Rengeval.

The absence of candidates in the United Kingdom

In London, French voters are generally highly courted by candidates.

But, as our correspondent

Marie Billon explains to us,

this year, almost all the candidates were exceptions to the rule.

The chronicle: It's your Europe

And how will young people vote?

This is the question that Alice Rouja asks herself three days before the election.
