Du Fu, who was honored as the "Poem Sage" by later generations, inherited and carried forward the excellent tradition of Chinese realism literature. His poems have rich social content, strong era colors and distinct political tendencies, and are called "Poetry History".
Du Fu also enjoys a high reputation internationally, and was named a world cultural celebrity in 1961.
Gongyi City, which belongs to Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, is the birthplace of Du Fu and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Poetry".
Jing Xiaoming, Deputy Mayor of Gongyi Municipal Government, who attended the press conference on the same day, introduced that since 2015, Gongyi City has held Du Fu's poetry and cultural activities for seven consecutive years around the theme of promoting Du Fu's "feelings of home and country".
The 8th Du Fu International Poetry Week aims to further strengthen cultural exchanges, promote literary and artistic creation, continue to polish the cultural brand of "Hometown of Chinese Poetry", and gather a strong spiritual force to accelerate the construction of a benchmark city for socialist modernization. The festival landed in Henan to lay the foundation, create an atmosphere, and increase the connotation.
The event will invite about 100 guests to participate through both online and offline channels.
