The cartoonist of

El Jueves

and author Carles Ponsi has announced that he has canceled the signatures of an illustrated book of his that he had scheduled for the day of Sant Jordi after receiving

"most serious"

homophobic threats through social networks.

"Attention: due to the extremely serious threats that I am receiving, I am sorry to inform you that I am canceling the signatures for this Sant Jordi for security," he expressed through his Twitter account, in which he shows some screenshots of messages received.

"Let it be clear to you, piece of fagot that when God and country are offended there is no dialectic more admissible than

fists and pistols

. Get ready," indicates one of those threats.

The artist, who planned to sign copies of his illustrated book "Sexo mal" (Fandogamia) has also wondered on Twitter if the Episcopal Conference should not stop "being quiet".

Faced with these homophobic attacks, the Observatory Against Homophobia (OCH)

has explained that it has activated all the protocols against LGTB-phobia

in the face of very serious fascist and homophobic threats, attacks and insults.

"We are in contact with the victim, who has informed us that today he will

file a complaint with the Mossos

. We are at his disposal for all kinds of legal and psychosocial support. We coordinate with the Barcelona councilor Marc Serra to establish the resources that are necessary. It is essential that the public powers guarantee all their rights and freedoms," said Eugeni Rodríguez, from the OCH, in a statement.

The OCH has also informed the General Director of LGTBI Public Policies, the Síndic de Greuges and the Department of the Interior, among other institutions, they explained.
