Two Omani students die after old projectiles exploded in their residence

Two students studying at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in the Wilayat of Nizwa in the Sultanate of Oman were killed on Tuesday evening, after strange objects exploded inside their residence, likely old projectiles.

The Royal Oman Police issued an official statement regarding the incident, which is still being investigated to reveal its circumstances.

The police said, "The two students died at their residence in Nizwa."

The police warned against tampering with or dealing with any suspected foreign objects, calling for them to be reported to the nearest police station or to the Police Operations Center.

The local media circulated the news of the accident, amid a great interaction of activists who demanded the relevant authorities to conduct a survey of mountainous areas and broadcast educational advertisements to educate the population not to tamper with these objects.
