In Soviet times, it happened that "the plans of the party - the plans of the people" were not successfully carried out by these people.

Or even not done at all.

The party considered the intensification of ideological and explanatory work to be a sure remedy against such a misfortune.

As the Norwegian fishermen taunted, radioing their Soviet colleagues: "Ivan, there is no herring, convene a Komsomol meeting."

The USSR has long since died in the Bose, but the solution of all problems through explanatory work is still alive, only now this means is being intensively practiced by the United States.

Sometimes little things.

Four US senators and one member of the House of Representatives intend to make an express trip to five countries of the world to explain to the local authorities the need for stronger support for Ukraine, as well as the inadmissibility of cowardice and indecision in isolating Russia.

The logic is clear: arguments in favor of sanctions that are not sufficiently intelligible in the mouths of President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and US ambassadors in the respective countries will have the desired effect when they are voiced by members of the US Congress.

Such is the faith in the power of representative democracy.

This is good, but the list of countries where explanatory work will be carried out is surprising: Poland, India, Germany, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates.

Why additionally inspire the Polish lords is generally incomprehensible.

The Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki, as cynologists would say, is distinguished by such increased viciousness that it is just right not to incite him against Russia, but to pacify him.

The Germans really groan and huddle, huddle and groan, because even the "green" members of the government of the FRG sometimes understand that the strict fulfillment of all American wishes will leave horns and legs from the German economy.

Perhaps the US parliamentarians want to apply to them the arguments of Frederick the Great, who admonished his soldiers with the words: “Are you bastards, are you going to live forever?”

The case of India and the UAE is a typical example of the fact that the East is a delicate matter.

Indians and sheikhs think only of their own interests and have a set of trump cards that allow them to ignore the bombastic speeches about the defense of democracy made by members of Congress.

And the parliamentarians do not have enough means of direct coercion.

But the most mysterious destination of the trip is Nepal.

One of the poorest countries in the world (159th in terms of GDP per capita), sandwiched between India and China, is not on the list of Russia's trading partners at all.

Nepal cannot harm Russia even with a very strong desire.

Unless, as a sign of support for Ukraine, the Nepalese Sherpas will refuse to lead Russian climbers to Everest.

For Russia, this will be a terrible blow.

Such a strange tour of US senators prompted the US Treasury to announce an even bolder and more comprehensive outreach task.

First Deputy Finance Minister Adewale Adeyemo announced: “Our goal is to ensure that all countries of the world follow our sanctions, because in this way we will have an impact on Russia.

The benefits of doing business with the broad coalition we have built far outweigh the benefits of doing business with the shrinking Russian economy.”

Undoubtedly, if all 240 (or 250, according to different opinions) countries of the world, following the United States, subject Russia to hellish sanctions, this will have a tremendous impact on it.

It is not clear how this dream of the US Treasury can be realized in practice.

Let's not ask ourselves how it is possible to ensure that US sanctions are followed by countries that themselves are now sanctioned to the utmost - Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, etc.

Here you can object that these are not countries, but who knows what.

But what about China, South Korea, India, the Arab world, the countries of Africa and South America?

If these are also not countries, but who knows what, then who is left in the shop?

So far, calculations show that the proportion of states that regularly (or with minor bucks that do not change the general state of affairs) follow the will of the United States is less than 40% of all countries in the world.

Turning 40% into 100% is an extremely difficult task.

It can be argued that when Russia is completely defeated on the battlefield, then the waiting countries will rush to join the victorious Ukrainian knights.

But (besides the fact that such a picture does not look particularly likely), there is another question: given the hypothetical crushing military defeat of Russia, why sanctions?

Sometimes, listening to V.A.

Zelensky and his powerful allies, it's hard to shake off the impression that they're delusional.

Moreover, feverish delirium comes even from such seemingly sober institutions as the US Department of the Treasury.
