British director Andy Serkis, who directed the films Venom 2, Breathe for Us and Mowgli, is working on a film adaptation of George Orwell's story Animal Farm.

According to Deadline, Cinesite studio joined the production of the animated film, participating in the creation of special effects for the 25th Bond film No Time to Die and in the work on the cartoon The Addams Family: Hot Tour.

Written by Nicholas Stoller ("Always Say Yes", "Swindlers Dick and Jane", "Home Video").

He is also producing the film with Dave Rosenbaum (Black Dahlia), Jonathan Cavendish (Venom 2, Bridget Jones's Diary) and Adam Nagle (Riverdance: Magical Adventure).

“Together, we hope to make our version of Orwell's timeless masterpiece emotionally charged, fun, and accessible to people of all ages.

This story will be interesting not only in modern times, but for future generations,” says the director.

According to researchers, the story "Animal Farm" is an allegory for the 1917 revolution in Russia and subsequent events.

The work shows the evolution of animal society from the freedom gained after the expulsion of the owner of the farm, to the dictatorship of a boar named Napoleon.

“George Orwell published Animal Farm in 1945, and since then the story has not lost its relevance and has served as the key to understanding how the (our. -

) world works,” Adam Nagle believes.

Andy Serkis' plans to film Animal Farm became known back in 2012.

Then the cinematographer noted that he had found a “pretty fresh” look at this story.

At that time, the director did not have an exact understanding of how the project would be implemented technically, but he noted that motion capture technology would be used in the production.

Serkis also emphasized that the tape "will be performed like a fable" and is intended for a family audience.

“We will not approach politics clumsily.

Everything will be done in, it seems to me, hitherto unprecedented emotional key.

Our point of view will be slightly shifted compared to how she and the characters are usually served - we look at everything in a new light, ”The Hollywood Reporter quotes the director.

After the director's first statement on the film, there were no updates for a long time, and Serkis himself worked on several projects as a director and producer, and also occasionally played roles in films and TV shows.

In 2018, it became known that the film adaptation of "Animal Farm" would be filmed for Netflix, but, according to The Hollywood Reporter, now the video service is not related to the film.

The work of Andy Serkis is not the first film adaptation of Animal Farm.

In 1954, the cartoon Animal Farm was released from British and American filmmakers.

It is a classic adaptation of the story.

The tape received mostly positive reviews from film critics and the general public.

In 1999, the premiere of a feature film based on Orwell's work took place.

Its plot also repeats the story told in the original source.

The audience met this project coolly, but it was nominated for Saturn and Primetime Emmy awards.

The 2006 cartoon Horns and Hooves, directed and written by Steve Oedekerk (Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls, Nothing to Lose), is a loose interpretation of Animal Farm.

The plot revolves around Otis, a careless bull who has to take over the farm after his father is killed by coyotes.

He tries to get used to his new responsibilities and at the same time gathers a gang of cows to avenge the death of a parent.

Also, the work "Animal Farm" appears in Agnieszka Holland's biographical drama "Gareth Jones" about a British journalist who comes to the USSR in the early 1930s to interview Joseph Stalin.

The hero publishes an article about a massive famine in the country, but other journalists, under pressure from the Soviet authorities, are trying to refute the information.

Jones' story inspires George Orwell to write Animal Farm.

The writer in the film was played by Joseph Mole, who also starred in the films Game of Thrones, In the Heart of the Sea, President Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and many others.
