Shanghai, an unexpected stop in my brother's career

In Shanghai during the epidemic, ensuring the livelihood of the people has become the top priority of the anti-epidemic task.

With the shutdown of offline stores, the volume of online shopping orders has increased sharply.

At the same time, some employees in related industries were unable to come to work due to management and control, which made the task of ensuring material supply even more arduous.

In order to gather strength to open up the "last mile" of material supply, Meituan, JD.com, Hema and other supply guarantee companies have assembled thousands of employees from Beijing, Wuhan and other places to help Shanghai.

Among these employees, many of them have rich experience in fighting the epidemic and guaranteeing supply, and some of them go with enthusiasm and mission.

When Shanghai was in crisis, they rushed to the front line without hesitation and became retrogrades.

What made them decide to go retrograde?

What is life like in Shanghai?

Are they prepared for this?

This issue of "Youth Faction" interviewed three young brothers from Meituan, JD.com, and Hema who aided Shanghai. They talked about their original intentions of participating in Shanghai aid, their daily work in Shanghai aid, and what they saw in the epidemic. of Shanghai.

Zhang Cheng, a Beijing-aided Hema sorter, handles tens of thousands of orders every day with his colleagues

"Choose more, as long as it can help the citizens of Shanghai"

From April 10th to 15th, about 500 Hema employees from nearly 20 cities across the country arrived in Shanghai one after another.

25-year-old Zhang Cheng is one of the Hema sorters that Beijing aided in Shanghai.

On the day he set off from Beijing to Shanghai, Zhang Cheng sat in the high-speed train carriage, unable to contain his excitement: "I have worked in Hema for two years, and I have also been a regular for a year. I can do my best to support Shanghai. , I'm a little excited."

Sign up to support Shanghai at the first time

After arriving in Shanghai, Zhang Cheng was assigned to the Hema Daning store to support the picking work.

Under the control of the epidemic, offline stores were closed, and online orders in the fresh food industry increased sharply.

It is understood that in order to get through the last mile of material supply guarantee faster, from April 1st, Hema has dispatched manpower from various places to Shanghai to support the supply guarantee.

By April 10, Hema had dispatched 130 experienced logistics professionals from various places to Shanghai, allowing the warehouse distribution system to continue to operate.

From April 10th to 15th, about 500 Hema employees from nearly 20 cities across the country arrived in Shanghai one after another. In the form of "one city or several cities, one store", they supported the management of the store and the management of the front store and the back warehouse. kinds of positions.

Supporting the fight against the epidemic has been Zhang Cheng's wish for a long time.

He said that perhaps because of his experience in the military, he was full of a sense of mission in the fight against the epidemic.

At the beginning of the epidemic in 2020, he had the idea of supporting the frontline.

Later, when the veterans organization in his hometown of Shanxi carried out an anti-epidemic volunteer activity, he had already joined Hema and was working in Beijing, so he missed this opportunity.

One of Zhang Cheng's roommates is an employee of Meituan. After the outbreak in Shanghai, the roommate went to Shanghai to support.

At that time, Zhang Cheng secretly made up his mind: "If we Hema also have such an opportunity, I must go."

When the supervisor asked him on the phone if he would like to go to Shanghai for support, he agreed without hesitation, and then told his parents.

"I've always wanted to go to support, and when I had this opportunity, I signed up as soon as possible. When the supervisor asked me, I didn't think of anything and agreed directly." Zhang Cheng said.

Walk more than 20,000 steps a day without leaving the store

Zhang Cheng and his party had a total of 55 Hema brothers who traveled from Beijing to help Shanghai.

After arriving in Shanghai, some of them went to the Hema Daning store with Zhang Cheng.

Zhang Cheng lives in a hotel about 5 kilometers away from the store, and the company's bus uniformly picks up these Shanghai-aided brothers to and from get off work every day.

"I started out with sorting at Hema, and I have also done distribution. Before assisting Shanghai, I was mainly responsible for the training of new distribution staff." Zhang Cheng said that due to the shortage of sorting staff in Daning store, he returned to his old business. The sorting work is done again, that is, the goods are packaged separately according to the order for delivery.

Zhang Cheng said that he now only hopes to pick up more goods every day, improve efficiency, and allow Shanghai citizens to receive goods faster.

The Daning store where Zhang Cheng works opens at 8 o'clock every day, and places about 1,500 orders every hour. 20 sorters work together, and they need to process tens of thousands of orders every day.

Sorters can only leave work after all orders for the day have been processed.

Even if the scope of work is only in the store, Zhang Cheng takes more than 20,000 steps every day.

According to Zhang Cheng's experience working here for a week, he can usually return to the hotel around 8 pm.

Relieve the pressure of "classmates" in Shanghai

Many of the orders are group purchase packages, and almost every order has large daily necessities such as rice, noodles, grain, and oil weighing dozens of pounds. It takes a lot of effort to move these goods frequently.

Among the 20 sorters, half of them are girls. "They are very good. I admire them very much." Zhang Cheng said that this kind of work rhythm has not changed much compared to when he was in Beijing, and he has adapted to it.

For Zhang Cheng, the "not big" changes are like helping in the snow in the eyes of Shanghai employees.

Zhang Cheng and other employees call each other "classmates".

During the chat with his "classmates" in Shanghai, he learned that Shanghai employees have been living in the store for more than a month and are under centralized management.

At the same time, he felt their exhaustion and stress.

"After the epidemic, their workload has doubled, and working and living in this environment for a long time will cause some pressure." Zhang Cheng said that after they came, what they heard most from the mouths of "classmates" in Shanghai was Thank you.

"I told them, 'You are already very good', we are all Hema people, and coming to Shanghai to support is to support and help each other."

JD.com express brother Tuo Qinfu became one of 3,246 retrogrades in Shanghai

"The experience of fighting the epidemic in Wuhan is my confidence"

When Tuo Qinfu heard the news of the recruitment of aid to Shanghai at the regular meeting, he was the first to sign up to join.

JD Logistics has recruited and mobilized a total of 3,246 front-line anti-epidemic security personnel such as couriers and sorters across the country to go to Shanghai for reinforcements. Tuo Qinfu is one of them.

On April 15, after saying goodbye briefly to his family, Tuo Qinfu took his suitcases and set off from Wuhan to help Shanghai.

At 11:00 late at night, JD.com courier Tuo Qinfu arrived in Jiading District, Shanghai.

Along with Tuo Qinfu were 37 Wuhan-aided couriers. After arriving in Shanghai, they were dispersed to 6 JD logistics sites in Jiading District.

Overnight at the station during heavy workload

According to reports, at present, JD Logistics has recruited and mobilized a total of 3,246 front-line anti-epidemic security personnel such as couriers and sorters nationwide to go to Shanghai for reinforcements.

Among the employees of the Lianqun Sales Department where Tuo Qinfu works, in addition to him from Wuhan, there are also employees from Inner Mongolia, Henan, Sichuan and other places.

There were more than 30 local couriers at the site. After the control was implemented, only a dozen people arrived, and the rest of the couriers were controlled at home. The support of Tuo Qinfu and others filled their vacancies.

The person in charge of Shanghai Human Resources of JD Logistics East China Branch said that the company is making every effort to solve the accommodation problem. Some of the young brothers who have arrived in Shanghai have already stayed in hotels, dormitories, apartments, etc., and have prepared camp beds, tents, sleeping bags, etc., but hotels and other resources are currently available. Still in short supply.

Tuo Qinfu was assigned to a hotel 11 kilometers away from his workplace, and it took about half an hour to commute by bicycle.

At the same time, the station master prepared sleeping bags for them. If there is a large amount of goods that day and there is no time to return to the hotel, they may need to spend the night in the station to prepare for work the next day.

Tuo Qinfu understands the current shortage of hotel resources and the strict management and control of some hotels, and has made psychological preparations for various situations that may occur in the future.

Receive a customer thank you message

Arrived in Shanghai at 11:00 midnight on April 15th, and at 6:30 a.m. on the 16th, Tuo Qinfu got up and was ready to leave.

At 7:20, he arrived at the station, and the station master told them that they could arrive later on the first day.

Normal working hours are 7:00.

After the old employees familiarized them with the environment and work flow, they immediately went to work and began to deliver goods.

Chuanzhan trains will come several times a day, no matter how many goods there are, they will close the shift after all the goods are delivered.

On the first day of get off work, their off-duty time was after 9 pm.

Tuo Qinfu added that in Wuhan, under normal circumstances, you can get off work around 6 pm.

Tuo Qinfu noticed that among the orders delivered, daily necessities such as rice, oil, and toiletries accounted for the vast majority.

Some customers saw that the courier's phone number showed Wuhan, and were deeply moved, and sent them a text message to thank them.

A customer told the courier in a text message: "I guess you may be the courier brother who came to support from Wuhan. Thank you, I hope you will pay attention to protection..." Tuo Qinfu was also very moved to see his colleagues share these stories in the work group.

"As long as we receive this kind of text message, we will send it in the group to encourage each other." Tuo Qinfu said.

  Participated in Wuhan's anti-epidemic

"With the experience of fighting the epidemic in Wuhan, I feel more confident now." Tuo Qinfu said.

During the epidemic period in Wuhan in 2020, Tuo Qinfu, who had just joined JD Logistics, joined the front line of the fight against the epidemic, and ensured supply for the citizens through delivery work.

On the day he arrived in Shanghai, Tuo Qinfu looked at the empty streets of Shanghai and felt as if he had returned to Wuhan two years ago.

This is very different from the impression he had when he came to Shanghai in early 2018, when he saw Shanghai's busy scene.

When fighting the epidemic in Wuhan, he delivered 300 to 500 orders every day, often from 6 or 7 in the morning to 11 or 2 in the evening.

He recalled that in some areas he often visited, many elderly people living alone had expressed their gratitude to him many times.

"Materials were very scarce at that time. We sent rice, noodles, and oil. They were very moved and thanked us very much." Many customers who were quarantined at home also called him for help.

Once, a customer with high blood pressure called him and asked him to help him buy medicine. Tuo Qinfu went to the pharmacy and waited in line for more than an hour to buy medicine.

At that time, he could deliver 30 to 50 orders an hour.

Tuo Qinfu's "confidence" is not only the experience and ability to fight against various difficulties, but also the strength brought to him by people's "emotional response".

Meituan's little brother Zhang Yao is delivering medicines full-time, hoping that the epidemic will end soon and return to his hometown in Jiangsu to have a look

"Hundreds of orders a day, the battery car is replaced 6 times"

Zhang Yao is a delivery guy at Meituan Longchang Road Station. During the anti-epidemic period in Shanghai, he was in charge of delivering medicines full-time. At present, the number of orders has soared, and the daily delivery volume exceeds 100 orders.

On the eve of May Day this year, his site won the honor of "2022 National Worker Pioneer".

He said, not only delivering medicines, but also often receiving requests for help from widows or elderly people living alone, such as helping them place orders for medicines and vegetables, etc., and he will do what he can to help.

Deliver 100 single rides 150 kilometers per day

Zhang Yao, who was born in 1989, is from Lianyungang, Jiangsu, but has been living in Shanghai since he was a child.

In 2015, he joined Meituan as a delivery worker and has worked for 7 years now.

Now he is a team leader of the Meituan Longchang Road Station, managing a dozen or twenty little brothers.

The site where he is located is usually responsible for "special delivery", such as some branded orders, as well as medicines.

After the implementation of control in Shanghai, he is responsible for the distribution of medicines.

Zhang Yao said that now his daily delivery orders are about 100 orders, and the daily riding distance is 120 kilometers to 150 kilometers, during which the battery car needs to be replaced 5 to 6 times.

He disinfected himself twice a day, made two antigens, and one nucleic acid.

While incomes have grown, jobs have also taken greater risks.

"Fortunately, the platform's measures are relatively complete, and the psychological hotline and insurance are all perfect."

Regarding the rumors on the Internet that the delivery fee for a single order is 200 to 400 yuan, and the daily income is tens of thousands of yuan, Zhang Yao said: "We have never raised the price, basically it is about 8 yuan to deliver a single order, and there will be a long distance. Additional subsidies. We don’t have a case of a few hundred yuan per order.”

Receive an order for "Travel to the doctor"

At 21:10 on April 12, Zhang Yao received an order for help from Lane 180, Cangzhou Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai. The nanny of the customer, Ms. Zhao, was sick, had fever and vomited blood.

She did not state her needs in the order, but just bought several common medicines as usual.

After Zhang Yao received the order, he soon received a call from Ms. Zhao. During the call, Ms. Zhao explained the real situation, crying and saying that she needed the courier brother to help her take the patient to the hospital.

After receiving this "special order", Zhang Yao immediately stopped picking up other orders, and accompanied him to the hospital throughout the journey.

Zhang Yao is now more like a "superman", he shuttles in various communities, delivering medicine to everyone.

Many elderly people who have not placed an order will also wait at the gate of the community. When the younger brother comes, he will come to ask how to place an order online, buy medicine, food and daily necessities.

In the face of these requests for help, Zhang Yao and his colleagues all help if they can. "The elderly are the most difficult group, and many people can only ask us for help."

Earned the title of "Pioneer Rider"

Before May 1st, Meituan Longchang Road won the honor of "2022 National Worker Pioneer", among which Zhang Yao was also known as "Pioneer Rider".

He said that he is just an ordinary rider, and his work is more rewarding and meaningful. He hopes that the epidemic in Shanghai will pass sooner, and he also wants to go back to his hometown in Jiangsu to have a look.
