The Karakashi River is the second largest river in the Hotan area. It flows through the three counties of Hotan, Pishan and Moyu.

The Karakashi River is in the shape of "S" in the mountainous area. After flowing out of the mountain pass, it flows down from south to north. After entering the Gobi gravel belt of the piedmont alluvial plain, the river channel becomes wider, the flow rate slows down, and a large amount of river water seeps. Groundwater in the plain area provides an extremely rich source of recharge.

In the middle reaches of the river, there is the head of the Karakashi River, which undertakes the irrigation task of 900,000 mu of arable land along both sides of the river and in Pishan County in the lower reaches.

In addition, it is also the source of water for hundreds of thousands of animals, and has comprehensive functions such as water diversion, flood discharge, and sand discharge.
