More than 4 million Ukrainians have fled their country since the war broke out on February 24.

Among them, more than 700,000 chose to go through Hungary, one of the countries bordering Ukraine.

The Hungary of Viktor Orban, which had closed its borders to Syrian refugees in 2015, has chosen this time to open them, and to welcome people fleeing war and violence.

But the country offers very few long-term reception solutions, and remains a transitional stage for refugees, who choose, for the most part, to continue their journey to other European countries.
