An incident that raises controversy in the Cairo metro

A video circulating on social networking sites sparked a wave of controversy and anger in Egypt, after a woman attacked a girl in the subway, in protest of her clothes, which the woman described as scandalous.

The videographer, who is a student at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Helwan University, told "Cairo 24" that she was accompanied by her friends Salma and Aya in the metro, and they were surprised by the woman telling her friend Aya, "Lami Daraak, in youth you are rising and coming down, and how do you wear this?"

Salma added: "My friend replied to her with his money. I was wearing a normal dress, and in fact she was wearing a normal shirt, a T-shirt with a half sleeve, and there was no need, so she sat cursing us with obscene words, and everyone in the metro replied that it is personal freedom, and then we are in the women's metro, there is no men.”

And she continued: "When she knew that we were filming her, she threw the mobile and insulted more, and took off the slippers and wanted to hit us with it, and people tried to silence her and they sat down and told her she was dressed normal, and you did not have an invitation, but she continued and hit us, and until she came down, she insulted us with ugly words, like

“The one who looks like you uses a record of etiquette.” Salma confirmed that they were subjected to bad insults from that woman, adding: “We are attached to making a record for her, because people in the metro took her to get her away from us.”
