It is understood that the center expanded the scale of giant rice trial planting this year, planting a total of 60 acres, so as to further verify the indicators of giant rice.
Yuan Longping, the "Father of Hybrid Rice" in China, had a great dream during his lifetime - "the dream of enjoying the shade under the grass".
After scientific researches, Mr. Yuan Longping's dream has come true.
In 2021, the Chongqing Branch of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering Technology Research Center successfully planted 15 mu of giant rice in Changhong Village, Shiwan Town, Dazu District, Chongqing City.
Shiwan Town, Dazu District, Chongqing has a long history of rice planting, and has 10,000 mu of high-quality and high-yield rice bases.
"Father of Chinese Hybrid Rice" Yuan Longping started his first work station in Dazu District, Chongqing from the end of 1951 to the beginning of 1952.
In July 2021, the Chongqing Branch of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering Technology Research Center was unveiled in Shiwan Town, Dazu District.
The center gathers a multidisciplinary team of experts and is committed to research in space breeding, hybrid rice combination breeding, new variety test demonstrations, and high-yield cultivation of super hybrid rice.
