Universal Music Publishing announced earlier this week that the band will now represent Elvis Presley's catalog worldwide (excluding the UK) in conjunction with Authentic Brands Group.

The two companies will now take advantage of the huge collection of hits recorded by the King such as

Love Me Tender

,

A Little Less Conversation

or

All Shook Up

.

As such, Elvis Presley only owned the rights to a handful of songs, the vast majority owned by Authentic Brands Group.

Anyway, this rapprochement between ABG and Universal seems to come at the right time, a few weeks before the release of the biopic of Baz Luhrmann with Austin Butler in the role of the legendary singer and Tom Hanks in that of Colonel Parker.

“An unprecedented impact”

"Elvis Presley had an unprecedented and lasting impact on music and pop culture globally," said Marc Cimino, executive officer of Universal Music Publishing, in a statement carried by

Variety

.

“Group CEO Jody Gerson and I, and UMPG teams around the world, couldn't be more excited and honored than to work with ABG to ensure Elvis' iconic legacy lives on. for generations to come.
