At about 16:00 on the 16th, an oil tanker exploded in the waters about 300 kilometers east of Hong Kong, killing one person and injuring six others.

  The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Flying Service was called by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre and dispatched two helicopters and one fixed-wing aircraft to assist.

The first helicopter arrived at the scene at 19:00 to start rescue work.
