The death of the dean of the age of actresses in Portugal, Onis Munoz

The Portuguese government intends to declare national mourning on the day of the funeral of actress Onis Munoz, who died Friday at the age of 93, according to what the Portuguese Ministry of Health announced.

And the actress passed away a few months after she celebrated on the stage the anniversary of the launch of her artistic career eighty years ago.

Prime Minister Antonio Costa indicated in a tweet via Twitter that "Unes Munoz has left an important imprint in the Portuguese theater, through her work alongside the most important directors and artistic authorities, and has never stopped providing renewable and innovative works and influencing successive generations."

"It is with great sadness that I received the news of the death of Onis Munoz, who is a national reference and is admired and respected by all Portuguese people," President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa told Lusa news agency.

Onis is the daughter and granddaughter of theater actors and circus artists. The dean of the age of Portuguese actors has played roles in about two hundred plays with about a hundred bands, and has also participated in a large number of films and television series.

Over the past year, she has participated in theatrical productions alongside her granddaughter Lydia Munoz in a tour that culminated in a performance at the National Theater "Dona Maria 2" in Lisbon on November 28, the day her artistic career began 80 years ago.
