The Diriyah Biennial Foundation revealed that the inaugural edition of the Islamic Arts Biennial will be hosted in Jeddah early next year. For his part, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Saudi Minister of Culture and founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Diriyah Biennial Foundation, stressed that "cultural and artistic exchange is an essential building block during this period of unprecedented prosperity and growth within the creative community in Saudi Arabia."

The Foundation appointed a team of curators to supervise the activities of the Islamic Arts Biennial, including Saudi archaeologist Dr. Saad Al-Rashed, researcher at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London Dr. Umniah Abdelbar, and Honorary Director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, DC, Dr. Julian Rabe and the co-founder of the architecture and experimental research firm “Counterspace” Somaya Valley.

For her part, the CEO of the Diriyah Biennial Foundation, Aya Al Bakri, said: “We are proud to announce the details of organizing the Islamic Arts Biennial, which is the first event of its kind in the world, and this comes after a historic moment in the Kingdom’s march, following the great success achieved in the first edition of the Biennale.
