In Okagaki Town, the largest loquat producing area in Fukuoka Prefecture, the specialty Takakura loquat is actively harvested.

In Okagaki Town, which faces Hibiki Nada, loquat has been cultivated since the Meiji era, taking advantage of the warm climate, and it is now a special product as "Takakura Loquat".

In the town, 37 farmers cultivate in houses and open fields, and the yield accounts for about 80% of the prefecture.

Of these, Yasuhiro Sanae's house was harvested from the morning.

Sanae used scissors to carefully harvest the fruits, checking each one to see if they were ripe.

Sanae said, "It is characterized by its sugar content and the unique flavor of loquat that other fruits do not have. I want many people to enjoy it."

The harvest of Takakura loquat is that the house-grown ones will be cultivated until the end of next month, followed by the open-field cultivated ones until the end of June, and they will be sold at JA direct sales offices and supermarkets in the prefecture.
