(Love the Greater Bay Area) Veterans of the Hong Kong Garrison return to the Hong Kong aided hospital: Hong Kong is my second hometown
China News Service, Guangzhou, April 13th: Veterans of the garrison in Hong Kong return to the Hong Kong aided hospital: Hong Kong is my second hometown
China News Service reporter Cheng Jingwei
Eight years ago, when Xu Jiachen, a young man from Xiangtan, Hunan, completed his defense mission and left the barracks of the Hong Kong Garrison, he did not expect that one day he would return to Hong Kong in this way—passing a temporary steel trestle to enter Hong Kong from Shenzhen. In the Lok Ma Chau Loop, we participated in the construction of the Central Aid Hong Kong Emergency Hospital and Fangcang shelter hospital projects.
In 2013, when Xu Jiachen was still a student at Hunan Chengjian Vocational and Technical College, he joined the army through the college student enlistment policy and became a member of the officers and soldiers of the Hong Kong Garrison.
After retiring two years later, he returned to campus to continue his studies in construction engineering technology.
After graduation, he joined China Construction Shenzhen Decoration Co., Ltd.

"Soldiers will regard the station as their second hometown and regard the local people as their relatives." Xu Jiachen said in a recent interview with a reporter from China News Agency.
With special feelings for Hong Kong, he resolutely put on the "war clothes" this time, and participated in the construction as the safety leader of the China Construction Shenzhuang Hetao Project.
The aided construction project in the Lok Ma Chau Loop in Hong Kong includes three parts: the Central Aid Hong Kong Emergency Hospital, the Central Aid Hong Kong-aided Lok Ma Chau Shelter Facility, and Living Supporting Facilities, with a total land area of about 500,000 square meters and a total construction area of about 283,100 square meters.
Among them, the first phase of the emergency hospital officially started construction on March 6 this year.
On March 10 this year, Xu Jiachen was excited and complicated when she just set foot on the land in the Hetao area of Hong Kong.
"At that time, there was no official road in the Hetao area. It was a dirt road that everyone walked out of with their feet." Xu Jiachen described the road conditions at the construction site.
Sometimes the heavy rain lasts for several days, and the mud in some parts of the construction site can cover the calf. Everyone just steps on the mud to work, and sometimes one foot sinks and the shoes cannot be pulled out.
"This can be regarded as a real 'concrete road'." Xu Jiachen joked.

In March this year, there were frequent spring rains in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
In rainy days, construction progress has been slowed down, and the rain can also cause power lines to trip.
Xu Jiachen said that the safety risk of repairing the circuit in rain is higher, and he is worried about delaying the construction period. It is not until the fault point is found and the power is reconnected that everyone is relieved.
In fact, Xu Jiachen knew the difficulties of this Hetao project.
"I have participated in the construction of the emergency hospital area of the Shenzhen Third Hospital after changing jobs. This is the second time I have participated in the construction of an emergency hospital, but the construction of the Hong Kong-aided hospital is even more arduous. Now that I am here, I am ready to fight a tough battle."
With the continuous progress of the Hetao project, the logistical conditions of the builders are getting better and better.
"Now the living conditions have been greatly improved. We live in mobile prefabricated houses and no longer need to sleep in tents." Xu Jiachen said that the catering guarantee on the construction site is also very good, which makes the builders have no worries.
Xu Jiachen's daily tasks at the construction site include holding safety morning shift meetings, inspecting the use of machinery and equipment, supervising workers' standardized operations, and checking the implementation of epidemic prevention measures.
"The first thing to do every day is safety education, and it's hard to beat," he said.

"Some workers don't wear safety helmets and take off their masks intentionally or unintentionally. Illegal operations, big and small, happen every day." Xu Jiachen always takes the trouble to correct them.
The construction period of the Hetao Project is tight and the working environment is tough. Sometimes workers will inevitably get emotional.
In this regard, Xu Jiachen believes that safety precautions should also pay attention to skills. He said: "Safety construction supervision should pay attention to the methods and methods. I insist on convincing people with reason and professional technology in safety management. The ultimate goal is to complete it safely and efficiently. Build the mission."
And Xu Jiachen's experience as a retired soldier, coupled with his frankness, made it easier for him to get along with his fellow workers and brothers, and everyone got along well and happily.
Whether it is performing defense missions as officers and soldiers of the Hong Kong Garrison, or participating in the construction of hospitals and supporting Hong Kong compatriots in fighting the epidemic, it is an unforgettable life course for Xu Jiachen.
Even at different times, one feeling remains the same: "Hong Kong compatriots will always be our relatives." (End)
