Ma Jianxiong introduced that in February 1938, Bethune came to China, and the first consultation was in this hospital, where he rescued the wounded caused by Japanese air raids for a week.

At the gate of the Fifth Hospital, there is a white statue of Bethune, and the nameplate records Bethune's deeds on Xianzheng Street.

The inscription on the Gongmian Archway shows that it was built in 1750 in the middle of the Qing Dynasty.
