Accustomed to online pots, the town hall of Compiègne (Oise) is once again appealing to the generosity of its inhabitants.

After the renovation of the sacred slab of the Clairière de l'Armistice in 2018 and that of the halls of honor of the town hall in 2020, it is today the Picantins who need a facelift, reports

A tax deduction in case of donation

Located on the belfry of the town hall at 35 m high, the three ringers of Compiègne need a little renovation.

And rather than applying for grants, the city has launched a call for donations.

The work on the three statues is estimated at 85,000 euros and will begin in the summer of 2022.

According to Nicolas Leday, deputy mayor in charge of municipal buildings, generous donors "act for the preservation of local history" and benefit from tax exemption.

The approach is not unanimous among the inhabitants.

While some are proud to act for their city, others say they are dismayed and wonder where the tax money is going.
