Thousands of aerial views of Brest ( Finistère).

A Breton photographer recently decided to offer 20,000 shots taken from the air to the city's archives, in order to document its evolution, reports France 3 Bretagne.

From 1970 to 2005, Robert Gernot flew several times to photograph Brest from the sky.

“What is good is that from the sky, we can see the evolution, confides the photographer to France 3. Brest is a modern city which is not encrusted in its past.

It is not an anonymous city.

Extensive documentation work

The photographer made his outings by helicopter or on board small planes.

He has thus immortalized Brest thousands of times, including its rapidly changing districts such as the technopole or the Bellevue district.

From now on, the archives will have to digitize each of the shots and document them precisely.

For his part, Robert Gernot hopes to be able to return to the air very soon to continue the photographic documentary of his favorite city.
