The Emirate of Sharjah concluded its program of activities as the guest of honor for the 49th London International Book Fair, after three continuous days of meetings, dialogue and discussion sessions, during which it opened the door for book makers in the world to expand their work and enhance their presence in the Emirati and Arab publishing market, and presented its vision in linking the markets of International publishing, where it reviewed its advanced infrastructure, and its strategic location that unites the Asian and African continents.

The emirate’s activities during the exhibition, which was held at Olympia Center with the participation of more than 20,000 publishers, booksellers, literary agents, librarians and media representatives from more than 100 countries, embodied the vision of the Sharjah Civilization Project, which aims to build fruitful bridges of communication with various cultures of the world. A number of poetry evenings and dialogue sessions with the participation of Emirati and English writers, in addition to a series of artistic heritage shows that conveyed the aesthetics of Emirati folk art.

The activities of the emirate, which came under the supervision of the Sharjah Book Authority, gathered the efforts of various cultural and creative institutions and initiatives in Sharjah. The Emirates Writers Union, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, and the Emirates Publishers Association participated in the emirate’s pavilion.
