A missing German windsurfer on Lake Garda has been found dead.
As confirmed by the Salò Coast Guard on Monday afternoon, the body of the 54-year-old man was discovered on the shore of the northern Italian lake.
The amateur athlete has been missing since Saturday after he was probably driven to the middle of the lake by the rising wind.
Helpers from the police, the coast guard and the fire brigade with boats, drones and helicopters were used in the search operation.
They initially only found the man's surfboard early Sunday morning.
When asked where the accident victim came from in Germany, a spokesman for the coast guard did not initially say.
