The famous cherry blossom spot "Ichimoku Senbon Sakura", which straddles Ogawara Town and Shibata Town in Miyagi Prefecture, is in full bloom, and from the sky you can see the scenery unique to this season when the rows of cherry blossom trees border the banks of the Shiroishi River in pink.

Approximately 1,200 cherry blossom trees that stretch for 8 kilometers on both banks of the Shiroishi River that flows through Ogawara and Shibata are called "Ichimoku Senbon Sakura," and are famous for cherry blossoms that represent Miyagi Prefecture.

In Ogawara Town and Shibata Town, in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, we have canceled the "Sakura Festival" for the third consecutive year, but this time we wear masks and take measures such as avoiding crowding. If you take it, it's okay to enjoy cherry blossom viewing.

The flowers were in full bloom on the 11th, about 3 days later than usual, and we saw people taking a leisurely walk along the tree-lined road covered with flowers and enjoying the view from the river on a rowboat.

Also, in JR East, while the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the train running between Ogawara Station and Funaoka Station will be driven at a slower speed.

On the other hand, from the sky, I could see the cherry blossom trees blooming on both banks of the Shiroishi River in a pink border, and the contrast with the mountains of the Zao mountain range where white snow still remains.

"Ichimoku Senbon Sakura" means that you can enjoy it all this week.
