Recently, in Jinan, Shandong, the Second Hospital of Shandong University urgently treated a 4-year-old girl who fell from the 17th floor. The girl was in critical condition with multiple organ injuries and multiple fractures when she arrived at the hospital.

It is understood that the girl accidentally fell from the 17th floor.

On April 3, she was urgently transferred from Jiyang District, Jinan City to the Second Hospital of Shandong University. At that time, the girl was already confused and had weak spontaneous breathing. After examination, it was found that the girl had multiple fractures of the cervicothoracic vertebrae, ribs, clavicle and scapula, and dislocation of the left hip joint. Traumatic wet lung, hemopneumothorax, hemoperitoneum, liver and spleen contusion and laceration are possible.

Wang Ruoyi, Director and Chief Physician of the Medical Department of the Second Hospital of Shandong University, gave manual reduction of the left hip joint, and gave a diagnostic abdominal puncture. The puncture showed a large amount of non-coagulated blood. He immediately communicated with his family about the condition, and contacted the Department of Anesthesiology and the operating room to prepare for emergency laparotomy. Probe, and immediately take emergency rescue measures such as tracheal intubation, ventilator-assisted ventilation, opening of venous access, blood combination, and volume expansion.

Fortunately, the 4-year-old girl did not hurt her head after the fall. After surgery, her spleen was removed, other injured organs and other injured parts were repaired, and her vital signs gradually stabilized. She was transferred to the Children's Intensive Care Unit for treatment. Currently, her vital signs are stable.

Chief physician Wang Ruoyi introduced that the next step is to undergo multidisciplinary re-diagnosis to allow the child to recover slowly. As long as there is no infection, the indicators are now close to normal. If the recovery is smooth, the child can be discharged in two weeks.

Finally, Wang Ruoyi reminded parents to take good care of their children and prevent children from falling.
