I've consistently gone shopping without a mask this week.

And if we all only had to isolate ourselves voluntarily from May 1st, I would have liked that too.

freedom, freedom!

Finally living the old life again, which was so carefree and happy!

My colleague Jörg Thomann sees it completely differently, but I'm sticking with it.

Our health minister has now made a U-turn and the obligation to isolate people infected with corona remains.

But I am also very happy about the elimination of the mask requirement.

And I trust in the judgment of the federal government, which believes that it will be fine - because, in relation to the number of inhabitants in Germany, it also got us through the pandemic with fewer deaths than other countries (that was the old federal government, but still).

So far not infected - lucky!

Now before your pulse goes through the roof: I'm boosted and still stick to all existing prohibitions.

But I've always done what I'm allowed to do, and that wasn't so little: going out to eat, dancing outside at private parties with complete strangers without a mask (and for a few weeks now also inside again, with 3G, but also without a mask ).

Fly on vacation, cuddle up in packed ski huts, go to the theatre.

And although I often had to deal with people who informed me after we met that they had probably already had Corona, I never got infected.

Lucky, of course, and pride comes before a fall.

If at some point I have symptoms, I will test myself and isolate myself without objection - I would do that even if I no longer had to.

I'm not antisocial.

Just unconcerned.

Of course, with all my risky activities, I realize that others may not test themselves and mingle with cold symptoms themselves.

And I could sit in the restaurant next to a person infected with Corona who suspects his infection but does not want it confirmed.

Does that scare me?

no

I refuse to be afraid.

We should all live more again.

The mental stress of this pandemic was disproportionately large.

It's time we got brave and came out of our shells.

Sure, there are vulnerable groups.

But they will certainly understand that the non-vulnerable are now thinking of themselves again, at least within a certain framework.

At least politicians have understood that in times of omicron and the possibility of even a fourth vaccination, they cannot forever put the interests of a minority above those of a majority.
