A cloud of sand will hit France again from Tuesday 12 April.

As on March 15 and 28, the sirocco, this very hot wind coming from the Sahara, should again blow on the country, causing the rise of large quantities of sand dust from the desert, indicates Futura.

Various consequences are thus to be expected.

With the establishment of a powerful southerly flow ahead of a low pressure area plunging over Spain, the #sand dust lifts from the #Sahara are expected to be significant again next week over #France .

First of all, the arrival of this hot wind should mean a softening of temperatures.

From Tuesday, they could reach 20 ° C almost everywhere on the territory, according to some stations.

However, according to Météo-France forecasts for this Friday, these temperatures could experience a lower rise, especially since on March 15 the expected rise in temperatures had been reduced by the veiling of the sky caused by the sand.

🟤 Yesterday April 5, 2022, the satellite image showed significant amounts of #sand from the #Sahara moving up towards #Greece.

In France, the risk should be back at the beginning of next week.

Sandy rains ahead

In addition, from Wednesday, sandy rains are expected to the north of the country.

They should be larger than those of March 28, but still smaller than those of March 15, which had been one of the most massive episodes of dusty skies in the last ten years.

That day, the sky had appeared orange over a large part of the country and the snow in the Pyrenees had taken on a color.

Consequently, it is advisable not to wash your car before the arrival of these sandy rains.

Finally, during this next episode, the quality of the air should once again be degraded, this sand leading to an increase in pollution linked to PM10 suspended particles.

It also contains other pollutants, bacteria and fungi.
