Three new helicopters for hospital emergency services in Pays-de-la-Loire.

The devices currently in service at the Nantes University Hospital, the Angers University Hospital and the La Roche-sur-Yon hospital center are in fact being replaced by new and more efficient machines, announces the regional health agency (ARS). ).

The new Vendée helicopter arrived on April 1, that of Angers was delivered this Friday, while that intended for the Nantes University Hospital will be operational on April 24.

“More efficient and better equipped, they will make it possible to better respond to urgent care needs by improving emergency health coverage in distance (thanks to their greater flight autonomy) and in quality and safety of care”, assures the ARS. .

Their operating hours will also be extended.

Hélismur de Nantes will be available 24 hours a day as today but that of Angers will now operate 24 hours a day for six months (April to September) and 12 hours a day for 6 months (compared to 12 hours a day all year round previously).

The Roche-sur-Yon helicopter will serve 12 hours a day from April to May and 24 hours a day from June to September (compared to 12 hours a day for six months previously)

Emergency helicopters provide access to care in less than thirty minutes.

The first device was installed at the Nantes University Hospital in 2003. But it was not until 2014 that a second helicopter arrived, shared between Vendée and Maine-et-Loire.

Last year, the three machines from Pays-de-la-Loire carried out 1,200 interventions for a total of 1,800 flight hours.
