The number of people hospitalized with a diagnosis of Covid-19 increased further this Friday, but the number of contaminations recorded in 24 hours is falling, according to figures published this Friday by the health authorities.

Hospitals are currently receiving 23,404 Covid-19 patients, compared to 23,272 the day before and 22,066 a week earlier.

However, this increase is not reflected in the intensive care units, which treat 1,554 patients with the most serious forms of the disease.

An almost stable number compared to that of Thursday (1,572) and that of last Friday (1,537).

148,768 positive cases in 24 hours

The number of contaminations seems to be decreasing.

Pharmacies and laboratories recorded 148,768 positive cases in 24 hours, against 158,792 the day before.

The daily average over seven days, which smooths out statistical jolts, stands at just over 133,000, like the day before.

It was 140,512 cases a week earlier.

The SARS-Cov2 virus is still circulating in a “sustained” way despite the shift in the curve of counted contaminations, Public Health France observed on Friday, unable to affirm “to date” that the peak of the epidemic rebound has passed.

The disease claimed 124 people in 24 hours in hospitals, bringing the death toll to 143,156 since the start of the pandemic more than two years ago.
