In France, two 16-year-olds have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of 14-year-old Alisha.

On Thursday, after four days of hearings behind closed doors, the court classified the act as murder.

Although there were no "characteristic preparatory actions" - the convicted young people, a boy and a girl, were "fully aware" of their actions.

Compensation for pain and suffering of 180,000 euros

They could not have ignored the "apparent condition of the victim" that she had "begged," the presiding judge added.

The two defendants remained silent when the verdict was announced.

In addition to the prison sentence, they were sentenced to pay compensation of 180,000 euros to the victim's family.

"It's not normal, I expected something from the law," Alisha's mother yelled in the corridors of the courthouse after the verdict.

"They'll be out in ten years.

My daughter was killed.

They killed my daughter, they threw her in the water," she lamented, surrounded by numerous supporters with Alisha's portrait on T-shirts.

The 14-year-old schoolgirl was ambushed by her classmates in a suburb of Paris in early March 2021.

According to the court, the two convicts molested her, beat her and finally murdered her cruelly.
