After they killed a colleague, two teenagers in France were sentenced to 10 years in prison

Yesterday (Thursday), a juvenile court in the suburbs of Paris sentenced a 16-year-old boy and girl to 10 years in prison for the murder of 14-year-old Alisha, who was bullied, beaten and drowned in the Seine in 2021, according to Agence France-Presse.

After the two teenagers appeared for four days in closed court, the Pontoise court reclassified the "murder" as "the murder of a 15-year-old minor", citing "the lack of sufficiently clear evidence" to prove that "preparatory work" was being planned in connection with the teen's death. As stated by the President of the Court.

He added that the teens were "fully aware" of the situation and "could not lose sight of the apparent condition of the victim" who "begged" them.

The two accused remained silent during the court's announcement of its verdict.

They were ordered to pay €180,000 in solidarity for the moral harm done to Alisha's family.

The victim's mother screamed in the corridors of the Palace of Justice, saying: “The verdict is not normal, I expected the law to do us justice.

They're out in ten years, while my daughter has been killed.

They killed my daughter and threw her in the river.”

The mother was surrounded by a group of supporters, covering their faces and wearing white T-shirts bearing the image of the teenage girl and slogans including #Justice for Alisha and (Alisha represents me).

On March 8, 2021, Alisha was ambushed by two of her colleagues in Argenteuil, northwest of Paris.

Shortly after her murder, more than two thousand people organized a rally, raising slogans calling for an end to bullying and justice for teenage girls.
